Stay in shape with a sporty adventure in Åland! There are many amateur enthusiasts and active associations here who would be happy to set up a practice match.

It’s almost harder to find a sport that can’t be played indoors in Åland. Floor hockey, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and futsal can all be played in one of the seven multisport halls located throughout Åland. Allhallen in Eckerö is big enough to fit a full-size football pitch.

Then, there are several speciality halls for swimming, tennis, badminton, ice hockey, dog sports, curling, bowling, judo and other martial arts. The popular ball game padel has its own hall, and Vikingahallen in Jomala has a squash court.

The newest addition to the lineup is Gymnastikarena Åland, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to gymnastics.

Exercise outdoors

Outdoor facilities include several football pitches, some with artificial turf that are open all year round. Athletics enthusiasts appreciate the fact that there is a fullrange athletics arena in south Mariehamn, with its world-class mondotracks. The Swedish Finland Athletics Championships (SFIM) were held in the newly inaugurated athletics arena in August 2022.

At Ålandstravet there is both a trotting track and oval for Icelandic horses. Motorsports enthusiasts are sure to make tracks to the motorsports stadium at Vessingsboda. The shooting range of the local sport shooting club is located nearby.

Book a training camp

And, the best thing of all is that there is plenty of available times at these facilities! Keep that in mind the next time your club is arranging a training camp.

A sport mini-adventure awaits you in Åland. The ferry trip is an experience in itself. Once here, you can stay close to the facilities, which are often within easy walking distance. That’s something everyone appreciates! Short transports mean less stress and more time for training and spending time together.
