From dance bands to opera
In addition to this summer’s lunch and dinner cruises, Sunnan II is launching several new themed cruises that add an extra layer to the experience. Among them are evening cruises to Rödhamn, where guests also get the chance to go ashore and explore one of Åland’s most popular harbours.
During Dance Band Week in Föglö, Sunnan II offers extra sailings to Degerby – ideal for those looking to combine an afternoon cruise from Mariehamn with a festive evening of dancing, and a return trip as the night winds down.
In August, the focus turns to world-class culture as Sunnan II sets course for Kastelholm with its popular opera cruises. Start your evening with dinner onboard and enjoy a performance at Kastelholm Castle as part of the Åland Opera Festival.
This summer also brings something new: on selected dates, Sunnan II will keep its restaurant and bar open while moored at the quay. Sometimes in connection with cruises, and sometimes as a standalone evening in port.
A unique and complete experience
Sunnan II was originally a steamship with a riveted iron hull. Today, she runs on diesel, but still retains her original charm and character. Stepping aboard feels like entering a slower, more mindful era.
Food is just as important as the view. The shrimp buffet has become something of a classic, but the ship’s other buffets and à la carte dishes are just as well-loved.
