Salt sprayed craft's centre in the Maritime Quarter

SALTThat the artisans of SALT enjoy their new localities in the Maritime Quarter in the eastern harbour of Mariehamn is not difficult to understand. The building offers a fine sea view and accommodates both a shop and studios.

When you step inside the door you are greeted by beautiful art handicrafts made of textiles, silver, ceramics, wood and wrought iron. On the tables are crafts from the six SALT artisans' own designs as well as from invited artisans and artists. Here you can also admire the beautiful view over the sea inlet.

Apart from Ann, the SALT group also consists of Eva-Len Mattsson; textile crafts, Gunilla von Nadelstadh-Nordlund; textile prints, Ilse Berg; woven textiles, Titti Sundblom; silver and gold smith and Lugnet Keramik which consist of the potter couple Siv and Simon Linney.

Salty and mixed
It is not easy to choose between all the fine handicrafts in SALT. Here is an incredible variety of colours, materials, craft methods and creative ideas. The art handicraft is of high quality and it is easy to find fine gifts, both for yourself and for others.

"Our customers are impressed with our selection," Ann continues. "Presently we also carry rope- and wirework, archipelago crafts, wooden jewellery and glassware from Jussis Keramik. Personally I think that the handmade candles are fantastic."

Walking around in the shop is a pleasure, not only for the eye, but also for all the other senses. Let your hands caress velvety small kittens or enjoy the pleasant weight of a ceramic mug. You can also tease your sense of taste with handmade chocolate creams from Mercedes at Café Lugn & Ro or buy flake salt and spice salt with different tastes.

Personal meetings
It is especially interesting that one of the artisans is always present in the shop.

And if you would find the perfect gift among the SALT artisans' products, but of the wrong colour or size, you can request a special order. That way you will have a home decoration detail that reflects both yours and the chosen artisan's personality.
