The Harvest Festival in Åland is a fine autumn tradition. When the third weekend of September rolls around, it is once again time to celebrate the treasures of the countryside with a harvest festival and open farms.
The festivities start with Open Farms Friday and Saturday, September 21th-23rd. Now you get a chance to drive around and really discover Åland. You will get acquainted with sheep farms and meat producers, artisans and breweries, ecologic bakeries and greenhouses. Indulge yourself in newly harvested crops and home baked goods or have a sample of apple pie and other good food with an autumn flavour. The great finale of the festivities is the large harvest festival at Ålands Landsbygdscentrum in Jomala.
There are 25 farms all around Åland that are open for visits during the harvest festival weekend. For example at the Bolstaholm Gård in Geta, you can go for an adventure in the barn and search for goldpennies in the hay. At Haddnäs Gård in Lemland you gan go on a cow safari while riding at the back of a tractor, have home made burgers and experience a true Åland ranch. In other words, there are lots of places to choose between.
Open farms, Friday - Saturday 11am-10pm
Sunday 11am-4pm
